wkhtmltopdf on your appserver

Posted . Visible to the public.

Important

wkhtmltopdf is deprecated and shouldn't be used anymore. Please consider switching to another tool

We can install wkhtmltopdf on your appserver if you need to generate PDF files from HTML. However, please note that wkhtmltopdf is no longer actively maintained, which comes with certain limitations.

Our preferred approach is to install the wkhtmltopdf package from the official Ubuntu repository. This version is compiled with libraries matching the Ubuntu release and is relatively up to date — for example, version 0.12.6-2 is available on Ubuntu 24.04 (verified as of May 7, 2025).

If you require a different version of wkhtmltopdf, we can install an older or alternative release from the archived GitHub repositories:

Please note: We do not compile the package ourselves on the server. Instead, we install the most recent available version of the prebuilt package.

Example:
If your app server runs on Ubuntu 24.04, and you request version 0.12.6.1-3, we would install the corresponding package for Ubuntu 22.04 (Jammy).

Be aware that using a package not compiled for your specific Ubuntu version can lead to errors or instability. Therefore, we recommend caution when opting for a version that does not match your server's distribution.
