A better idea is to use the EurKEY Show archive.org snapshot layout. It maps the Umlauts to
AltGr+a,u,o. Activate it in GNOME-Tweaks -> Keyboard -> Show Extended Input Sources and re-login.
If your US-ANSI keyboard supports VIA Show archive.org snapshot you can use it to create macros for the German Umlauts. All Keychron models should support this by now.
