Buzzwords and staying up to date [1d]
Web technology is a very broad field and you cannot be an expert in all aspects.
However, it is useful to have at least heard of a few common terms and buzzwords, so that you don't seem uninformed when talking to a client or other developers.
Get an overview
Search the Internet for each of the following terms. Only take a couple of minutes for each and don't get into too much detail, but do get a rough understand what each of these terms mean:
- Single-Page Application
- Progressive Web Application
- Software as a Service
- GraphQL (und: GraphQL vs. REST-APIs)
- AWS and EC2
- CDN, Akamai, CloudFront
- Web Components
- Service Worker
- OAuth and SAML
- Elixir / Phoenix
- PhoneGap (-> now Apache Cordova)
- A/B testing
- Internet of Things
Discuss a few of these technology with your mentor. Focus your discussion on whether the respective is relevant to our daily work and to our clients.
