Things You Learn the First Time You Visit NYC

New York Attraction

I love talking about my travels, about the cities I visited and about the people met in the various corners of the world. But start talking about New York City was more difficult than I thought, I couldn’t find the right words to describe my fantastic itinerary and the amazing sights I discovered. It is said that more you learn less it seems you know, and that happened with me and New York. I learnt a lot in my first visit and now I want to share with my impressions of this city.

The first thing I learnt when I first visited New York was that appearances can mislead. When looking on a map, you may think New York is a simple city, especially Manhattan which is a rectangular quarter in the middle of the Big Apple. The Central Park is also rectangular and my first thought was “well, nothing complicated”. However, things are different when you decide to stroll among the streets of New York, and I soon realised how wrong I was. The first lesson learnt.

My main help during my visit was Helen, the owner of the apartment I rented for my short stay in New York Show archive.org snapshot . I love staying in apartments during my travels because it makes me experience the local way of living, but other good options for a short stay in New York are the hotels. Helen advised me to begin my exploration with a Broadway and 5th Avenue tour. I listened to her and I lived one of the best travel experiences of my life, strolling from Central Park to Times Square, admiring the people and the lifestyle of this amazing city.

Another lesson learnt in my first travel to New York is that the city seems to have many different small cities inside it. Besides the immigrants quarters, from Little Korea to Chinatown and East Village, many other quarters like Brooklyn or Manhattan seem to be separate cities also.

In my first time visit in New York I also learnt that no matter how cold can be outside, the Times Square is always crowded. The square is flanked by many shops, restaurants, cafés, and here is also located the shop where you can buy last-minute tickets to Broadway shows.

An interesting place to visit is the Toys’R US shop. Even if I’m not a child anymore, I was overwhelmed by the number of toys present and I really enjoyed the visit. In the same category is the huge M&M store, a colourful and cheerful place to visit.
The last thing learnt in my first-time visit in NYC is that the city is actually a unique blend of attractions, sights and amazing things to do, ready to welcome all travellers offering activities for all tastes and budgets.

This is a part of what I learnt in New York City, and this is what you’ll also learn in your first-time travel. Now all you have to do is plan your short stay in New York and enjoy an amazing journey!
