One of the most prominent cinematic events of the year, Cannes Film festival Show archive.org snapshot started on 17th May 2017. The twelve day long French film festival is known for its film premieres, red carpets and after-parties. The event took place on the famed road of Boulevard de la Croisette in Cannes.
The panel of jury this year was headed by renowned director Pedro Almodóvar. The main jury panel had Jessica Chastain, Will Smith, French actress Agnès Jaoui, Chinese actress Fan Bingbing, German writer-director Maren Ade, Paolo Sorrentino, Stoker director Park Chan-wook and The English Patient composer Gabriel Yared.
Representing one of the biggest fashion stages of the world, the Cannes red carpet often showcases the most over-the-top and memorable looks of the year. The trend setting event this year saw a series of fancy gowns, provocative slits and jewels that would make anyone’s head spin.
The film festival featured 49 films from 29 countries. The list had nine feature debuts and 12 women directors. Eighteen films were noted for key competition. Noteworthy inclusions were Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and director Bong Joon-Ho’s Okja.
To mark the 70th Anniversary, the festival published a copy of the journey so far. The written work " Ces années-là Show archive.org snapshot ” captures the abundant diversity of Cannes. Written by scrupulous critics, it rewinds and represents the glory of all the past 69 ceremonies.
The twelve day long party full of glitz and glamour added on to the Sun, Sea and Palm trees of the French Riviera.
