There are two things you must absolutely do to install a Windows machine:
- Choose a flavor that has ephemeral storage. This gives your instance two hard drives: one is used to store installation disc, the other one is for you to use. If you don’t do that, first (and only) hard drive will be occupied by the installation disc image (ISO) and you will not be able to see any hard drive to install the system to.
- When the installation process prompts you to load drivers, load them. Choose “Browse” and navigate to the installation DVD, they are in a directory called “VirtIO”. Load all the drivers it founds compatible. You will need one driver for SCSI, one for Ethernet and a Balloon driver.
